- 02Fire detection systems
- 03Smoke & heat detection
- 04Emergency lighting
- 05Testing, servicing & maintenance
Conventional and addressable systems
Conventional systems divide a building into zones and tell you which zone has triggered. They are cost-effective and well suited to smaller premises.
Addressable systems identify the individual device that has activated, which in a larger building is the difference between checking one room and searching a whole floor. For anything of size, addressable is usually worth the additional cost.
Detection specified for the space
Smoke detection suits corridors and escape routes. Heat detection is used in kitchens and plant rooms where smoke detectors would cause constant false alarms. Get that mix wrong and the system becomes an irritation people disable.
We also install emergency lighting to illuminate escape routes during a power failure, which is normally required alongside a fire system in commercial premises.
Testing, servicing and maintenance
A fire system is only worth having if it works on the day. We carry out testing and servicing, keep the logbook up to date, and pick up faults before they matter.
If you are responsible for a commercial premises or an HMO, you have a legal duty to maintain fire detection. We will explain what your building needs in plain terms.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
- Do I legally need a fire alarm?
- If you are responsible for a commercial premises or a rented HMO, you have duties under fire safety legislation, and detection is almost always part of meeting them. Requirements vary by building type and use. We will advise on what applies to yours.
- What is the difference between conventional and addressable?
- Conventional systems tell you which zone triggered. Addressable systems tell you which individual device triggered. For larger buildings, addressable saves critical time.
- How often should a fire alarm be tested?
- Weekly user testing of a call point, plus periodic professional servicing, is the general expectation for commercial systems. We can carry out the professional servicing and keep your logbook in order.
- Do you install emergency lighting too?
- Yes. Emergency lighting on escape routes is usually required alongside a fire system in commercial premises, and we install and test it as part of the same job.
- Can you take over servicing of an existing system?
- Yes, in most cases. We will inspect what is there, tell you what condition it is in, and take on the servicing from that point.
